Any adivce on which hotel in vegas to choose when taking teen agers?

monte hotel
DAN L asked:

Considering going to vegas in july, but we are taking the kids. I’m considering MGM, Mirage, Flamingo, Monte Carlo. We will be spending some time at the pool, which one of these offers the best? I got a good deal at the MGM, but I know that it is kind of far from all of the excitement of the center strip. I know it has a monrail, but that can be pricy after a couple of days. Which is the best for teens??

Mr & Mrs Average Family Persons:

They don’t put these commercials on TV just to take a break from network programming for nothing…Sometimes they really do provide information.

    Have fun!!

Try the Excalibur which is right there on the strip across New York New York. Or you can try one of the Marriott properties (Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, Rennaisance) but all of these properties are non-gaiming facilities meaning they don’t have casinos.

Of the four you suggested, I would go with the Mirage. The Flamingo is no closer than MGM to everything. MGM is not much further than Monte Carlo. Monte Carlo is a good hotel, but no bells and whistles for the teens (although it has free shuttle to NY/NY and Mirage). The pool at the Mirage will be more fun for them.

I think you can get a 3-day unlimited pass on the monorail for $40/person

MGM Grand. I’ve stayed there & loved it. The rooms are nice, there’s a ton to do (even for kids), and the pool area is quite large. Also, it’s near NYNY and Excalibur both of which have fun stuff for teens. (NYNY-rollercoaster & games) Excalibur has more games. Although MGM is at the far end, it’s only about $15 for a cab to the opposite end. You could take a cab there for a day/two and easily walk the rest.

The atmosphere at the monte carlo is kinda stuck up, I wouldn’t do that with kids. The flamingo is pretty cheesey, but I’ve never stayed there.

As far as other places go, Mandalay bay is incredible in the pool area–but also the price area & it’s further out than MGM.

Oh, someone mentioned staying at Excalibur–dont! The rooms are small & dark Think a cheap castle themed motel 6 with antiquated fixtures and shower only in the bathroom.
