I’ve stayed at the Mandalay Bay and it is absolutely impossible to get in, unless you have a room key. It is manned, like a theme park, i.e.: you can’t “slide by” or “slide in” unnoticed. You actually have to put your key through a turn style to get in. The hotels put so much investments into their pools, to get people to stay there and spend money on a room. They don’t want people only coming to hang out, maybe buy some lunch or a drink or two and taking away from the real guests. Yeah, …. I get where you’re coming from, though, an it shouldn’t work that way.

Usually you need to show your room key in order to go to the pools.

Unless you’re a registered guest at the hotel, you will not be allowed to use or even view any of the other pools. They check room keys – most use a computerized system too.

The ONLY exceptions to this are any special events – like Rehab at the Hard Rock.
