Premonitions?

monte hotel
Cezy asked:

recently i have been having dreams and thoughts about things that are happening a few days or weeks later. I want to know what is going on. It is making me nervous and I want to know if they are what people call premonitions. here are some examples.

1.) i had a dream that a family friend became a teacher at my school…two months later they applied for a job at my school.

2.) when the school annoucments come on i had this random feeling that they were going to call my name to go to the office….they called my name…this has happened at least three times and i never get the feeling if they dont call my name.

3.) i just got back from a trip to las vegas: the entire week before i left, i had dreams and was thinking constantly about if my hotel or a close hotel to me were to catch on fire, what would I do? I got back on tuesday, and on friday the monte carlo caught fire. i had stayed at polo towers which is directly across the street! this freaked me out.
please help me!!!

    It sounds like premonitions.
But, of course, there’s also the small chance that it’s just “coincidences”.
Well, it could be what people call “sixth sense”.
Maybe you watched or did a seance lately?

-Again, not all of it is bad, so I guess you might want to calm down with that.

I think what you are experiencing is called psychic dreams. Don’t freak out many people experience these dreams and feelings, including me. I can tell you from experience that I did get weirded out when it happened to me constantly but it just means that you have a gift and to be aware of it. I would write down the dreams and see all the connections with your current situation. Use your dreams as a guide. If you have a dream and it makes you uncomfortable just be a little of more aware of your surroundings. But don’t freak out when you have more familiarity with your dreams you won’t panic as much. I can tell you this they are fun to have. Relax and pay attention to your dreams.

I agree with what Stardust said about being aware of it and writing it down b\c you need to pay attention to your dreams b\c it may tell you something and you may be able to prevent it from happening like if its something bad or you may be able to help in some way.

It’s happened to me as well don’t be freaked out by it, its a gift and not everyone has it.

It is interesting that you link dreams and premonitory thoughts. You are actually doing this because they are in fact most intimately linked.

This question of yours pops up frequently on this site. It does so because there are more and more dreamers who are getting sensitive to the most open secret of life. This secret is that dreams are about the future. They are in fact the blue print of waking life.

There is no need to get nervous about it for it has happened to you all your life without you having had the slightest inkling of it and doing no damage whatever.

What is different now to the times before you were aware of this phenomenon is that you are now becoming more sensitive to your inner life. When you are too busy with the material world and totally engrossed in it, you don’t notice your inner truth and reality.

In our western civilisation which has become utterly left brained and technologically oriented, dreams have been declared nonsense, froth and bubbles; and although Freud alerted us a 100+ years ago that dreams are meaningful and intelligent stories, not many have caught up with this enlightened finding.

In the very old days, in Babylon and in the biblical times of the old Testament it was well known that dreams are messages of God. This is why the dream interpreters were called dream DIVINErs. They thought what they dreamt were about our life from the perspective of God, that is from the perspective of the all-seeing eye of God that was not limited to the past and present, but also open to the future. There is in fact a verse in the Old Testament, in the book of Job, which explains clearly what dreams are in God’s view, in the view of the ancient prophets to be more precise.

Here is the crucial verse that shows you this: “For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumbering upon the bed: Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction.” (Job 33:14/15/16).

Put simply: dreams are God’s instruction to us what to do and how to behave. And no less important is this observation: ‘most men do not see this simple truth’.

Put in more modern terms: Dreams are directing us to act in this or that way, they are the blueprints of our waking life, yet most of mankind does not realise it, does not believe it.

Indeed, some scientists believe that dreaming is just mindless neurological sparking off in the brain while we sleep. To say such a thing tells me that this kind of scientist has not seriously studied dreams. In fact it is like saying that Chinese writing is meaningless scribble. It is that of course for those who have not studied Chinese.

The same is true of dreams. They look like bizarre nonsense to the untrained eye, to the illiterate dreamer. But once you have started to look at what you are dreaming, once you record your dreams and then watch what will happen the day that follows the dream, or indeed, as you have experienced yourself, a few days later or even weeks (and in plenty of recorded cases years) later, you will discover that the dream has anticipated this or that.

How come, will you ask? Is it possible to see the future? And then comes the crunch: if the dream can see the future it means that the future already IS. That the future is NOW is then the only logical conclusion.

But of course, those who have not yet become sensitive to this phenomenon as you have recently will think that I am talking nonsense. Unlike you they will say “I dream all sorts of nonsense like riding a cloud, what can that have to do with my future? Will I ride a cloud tomorrow?” No of course not. You will have to understand that the dream speaks in pictures that are metaphors, parables, likenesses, allegories. If I say in waking time: “I am on cloud nine today!” everyone will understand at once that I am feeling great today, that I am on a HIGH, high up in the clouds as it were. It is in this metaphorical way that you must understand the dreams.

True, at times they foresee things literally as in the case of the family friend. They may foresee all sorts of thinks like winning a sum of money. That sort of thing has been recorded often. A man may dream that he has won at the races and then will go to the TAB and put money on the horse he dreamt about and consequently win a bundle of money.

To put it in a nutshell: dreams are the blue prints of our waking life. If you want to know what is ahead of you, then look into your dreams.

So how can the dream see the future? For that to happen the future must be already here and now as I have indicated. The best way to explain this is in this way: When you are awake it is like being shut in a room which is divided into three compartments: the past, the present, the future. Once you start dreaming the walls of time fall down and you see things more as they truly are. There is really no such thing as time. It is an illusion caused by the brain.

You have perhaps heard that Einstein had said time was relative. It is even less than that. But let me not waste time on technicalities that may only twist your brain. Instead let me tell you what the connection is between a premonition and your dreams.

You have been able to foresee what happened at school months ahead; in some cases probably a few hours before as when you knew that you were going to be called up during school announcement, or a few days before as in the case of the hotel fire.

In the first instance you foresaw what would happen in a dream while in the second example you said it was just a random feeling. In the third case you seem to have translated your dream into a hotel fire even though you may not have recalled an actual fire. That sort of recall does not diminish your premonitory capacity, what matters is that you kept thinking about the fire.

Such incognisant ponderings are cases of what I call cryptomnesic recalls of a dream. The word cryptomnesic suggests that the recall process was hidden to your mind. Let’s take the case of being called up at school. You had this distinct feeling that you would be called up. You actually knew this cryptomnesically which means that you had a dream about being called up but forgot it and were unable to recall the dream as such, in fact you didn’t even realise that you had that feeling because of a dream, yet you were able to recall the CONTENT of the dream before it became a waking reality.

This is the only true definition of a premonition. I have seen this countless of times. It is in fact related to the déjà vu. There you have the distinct feeling that this has happened before. And it had: in a DREAM! Not many people know this, yet some do and are quite clear and definite about it including dreamers who write into Yahoo Answers.

One more thing. What you call premonition is only one specific example of this process of knowing things in an inexplicable way. Part of the premonition phenomenon is the déjà vu as I have just said, but also artistic inspiration, instinctive behaviour, hunches, the speak of the devil syndrome, the you have broken my dream case, and the so called telepathic communication and so on and so on.

There is only ONE SINGLE explanation of all these: they are rooted in a precursory dream.

All ideas, all knowledge in fact comes to you though your dreams. The dream knows ahead not only what will happen on occasions at school or Las Vegas, it knows every single item you will experience in your waking life ahead.

You might one day take the time to read some book on dreams which will list the many occasion when inventors and artists have seen their invention in a dream, the paintings in a dream, their literary works, their theories and mathematical discoveries.

So please relax and accept this phenomenon as an everyday occurrence to which you have come only now, but will never ever lose again!
